Trees, alpacas and nights in a bus!

Big Sky has been a long time coming for us and we're so excited to start creating this incredible space. We're so grateful to have received the support of over 200 strangers and friends and can't wait for a successful (and fun) 2021.
First and foremost we believe in community. Whether you're seeking a private getaway or an escape with friends, if you feel like it there will always be other people to meet at around the campfire or in our community barn.
Get in touch via the contact page if you missed the crowdfunder but would still like to support our tree planting efforts, sponsor an alpaca or book a stay on one of our buses.
If you're interested in bulk buying trees (or other rewards) please do drop us a line. There's a 3% fee through the crowdfunder but we can process bulk buys (and offer discounts) offline.

CROWDFUNDING FAQ + TERMS & CONDITIONS

This bit isn't very exciting but we've popped it together as a place to answer frequently asked questions about our crowdfunder. If you still can't find the answer you're searching for please do drop us a line and we'll get right back to you.
A note from Dave and Emms:
As naturally optimistic folk we've not enjoyed the process of creating these T&Cs, because they're in place to avoid worst case scenarios! We've tried to cover all bases and please do get in touch if you have questions unanswered on this page.
Crowdfunding Basics
All funds raised through the crowdfunder campaign will be invested back into the Big Sky Hideaway at the discretion of the owners, Em and Dave. In return for your support we're excited to offer discounted glamping and hands-on experiences for 2021.
We are actively going to do all in our power to make experiences at Big Sky as accessible as possible for everyone who wishes to visit. If you are concerned about access, please get in touch with us and we can work together to ensure that everyone in your party has an unforgettable stay.

Each reward will come with a digital certificate with a blank space for you to enter a recipient’s name if it is to be a gift. If it is a gift to yourself - just fill in your own name!
By supporting the campaign, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Reward Terms:
After the crowdfunder ended on 19th December 2020 we spent a few days sending out gift certificates to everyone who supported the campaign. If for some reason you haven't received yours please email us so we can send our thanks.
Tree planting sessions will take place in the Spring, and we'll confirm dates a least six weeks in advance (once we know when our trees are coming)
Our alpacas are due to arrive late March/ early April.
And we're keeping an eye on COVID-19 so are not taking bookings before the end of Feb, yet. Watch this space.

We are unable to issue refunds for any aspect of the crowdfunding campaign.

Sponsor a Tree
Tree sponsorship covers the cost of land management, planting, materials and maintaining a brand new healthy tree forest at Big Sky.

In no way does sponsorship of a tree enable the sponsor any ownership over any particular tree or part of the woodland - all trees will be planted to benefit everyone who visits Big Sky and will therefore be sole property of Big Sky Hideaway.

By opting to sponsor a tree and come camping to help plant it, you have the option for two people (yourself included if you wish) to attend one of our community tree planting events. Community Tree Planting events shall take place in Spring 2021 and dates will be released at least six weeks in advance. Booking your place is essential, we'll be in touch regarding details.
Tiny humans of any reasonable age are welcome to be a part of our tree planting weekends.

Camping for the Community Tree Planting events includes one pitch for two people, for one night. Any additional nights will need to be booked and paid for separately.

Adopt an Alpaca
Adopting an Alpaca for a year helps us to cover the costs of caring for our herd. By adopting an alpaca, please understand that you are supporting the herd as a whole and not any particular alpaca. We have a responsibility to care for them all equally so can’t play favourites!

We are starting the site from scratch so do not have alpacas yet - we need to build them safe and comfy stables and paddocks before they move in. All adoption proceeds will contribute towards this infrastructure as well as feed, care, medicines and housing for these beautiful animals. We plan to introduce our new furry family members to Big Sky in early Spring 2021

By choosing to adopt an alpaca for a year, this in no way entitles you to ownership of any of our animals. All alpacas will remain within the sole ownership of Big Sky.

The year of your adoption starts in Spring 2021 when the alpacas move in and you will have the opportunity to renew your adoption on an annual basis.

Adoption does not include naming rights (although we will definitely ask your opinion when the time comes to naming them).

You may choose to adopt an alpaca from afar or to come and camp with us, meet the herd and learn all about taking care of them.

When choosing to Adopt an Alpaca, Meet and Help Care for it, booking is essential and you may be joined by others who have selected the same reward. We want our alpacas to feel comfortable with any situation so rest assured that groups will always be small, no more than two people per alpaca.

For any alpaca experience, anyone between ages 4 and 18 need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Meeting and caring for the alpacas will be a 1 to 2 hour experience and is not suitable for children under the age of 4.

Camping for the Meet & Help Care for Alpacas sessions includes one pitch for two people, for the night before your session. Any additional nights or people camping will need to be booked and paid for separately.

The health and happiness of our alpacas is paramount. For this reason, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone a booking if the alpacas are at risk.

The experiences include a safety briefing before any contact is made with the alpacas. Anyone not adhering to the information and guidelines provided will be asked to leave the experience without compensation.

Although we do allow dogs on site, they will not be allowed to accompany you on this experience, this is to ensure the safety of our animals. Please ensure that if you plan to bring your dog, you adhere to our Pups On Site Policy and they are supervised at all times away from the alpacas.

Dedicate a Memory or Celebration Tree
Planting a tree is a lovely way to remember or celebrate a life or to mark the birth of a new family member.
You and one other person will be invited to join us on site to plant the tree yourself - booking is essential. Please note that camping is not included in this purchase and must be booked and paid for separately.
In addition to a Tree Dedication Certificate, you'll be offered two small wooden markers, which are handmade on site & inscribed with a short message of your choice - one stays with the tree, the other goes home with you.

This is a very special option that allows to you to choose from a selection of beautiful tree species and plant it yourself in a variety of pre-selected locations around the Big Sky Hideaway site. Different species of tree require different environments to grow within so we can discuss the location options with you once you have chosen which tree you find most special.
Tree species will be chosen by yourself at the point of sale and cannot be changed.

Please note that dedicating a tree in this way is done with the best of intentions. Although we have no plans to sell the site (we have only just got there!) there is a chance that at some point in the future we'll move on. We want to be 100% transparent and say that in the event that the site is ever sold in the far far (far!) future, we cannot guarantee that you will always have the option to visit the tree you planted.

In the event of any future land sale (including where the tree that was dedicated stands), we will inform you within plenty of time and give you the opportunity to visit and take a clipping/seed/nut away to grow your own.
In the unlikely event that a memory or celebration tree is requested to be removed from the Big Sky Hideaway by the individual who purchased the crowdfunding reward, we reserve the right to refuse, but will consider any such requests on a case by case basis.
You are purchasing a very special, living tribute to create memories when visiting Big Sky Hideaway. You are contributing to the cost of land management, planting, materials and maintaining a brand new healthy tree at Big Sky. You are not purchasing the tree or the land it grows in.

All visits to memory trees should be organised in advance via the owners of Big Sky. Depending on where the tree is planted, there may be occasions when you can't visit. The most obvious example would be if the tree was in one of our glamping pod's private gardens and that particular pod was rented out. Naturally, we'd like to ensure that each of our guests enjoys the privacy they deserve.
